Beyond the Academy

Want an industry credential next?

Path Rewritten is a place to develop foundational and practical knowledge. Professional certifications are awarded by separate organizations, with separate requirements.

External certification

Intuit QuickBooks ProAdvisor

Students interested in QuickBooks can investigate Intuit's official training and certification route. The examination and credential are administered by Intuit, not Path Rewritten.

External designation

AIPB Certified Bookkeeper (CB)

A more advanced credential with examinations, ethics, and bookkeeping experience requirements. Separate study, eligibility, and fees may apply.

Review official requirements ↗

Path Rewritten is independent and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or an authorized certification provider for Intuit or AIPB. Its programs do not replace the organizations' official requirements or guarantee exam readiness.

Why Path Rewritten exists

A different path deserves a real opportunity.

Founded by Shauna Blackman, Path Rewritten Accounting Academy was created with one belief: everyone deserves an opportunity to learn practical accounting skills, even when college or university isn't an option right now. Whether you're changing careers, working full-time, balancing responsibilities, returning to learning, or simply curious about accounting, Path Rewritten offers an organized place to start. I built my career through hard work, hands-on learning, and opportunities beyond a traditional four-year college route. I know how much further ahead I could have been with a clear, practical learning path. Path Rewritten is here to offer that head start to someone else—through free lessons, guided practice, and skills you can actually use in the workplace.Read Why Path Rewritten Exists →

Before you begin

Questions worth asking. Answers you deserve.

Is everything really free?

Path Rewritten's eight Academy programs and downloadable Academy study materials are free. Some independently operated resources linked in lessons may offer optional paid services, software or certificates. We can't control their prices.

Do I need a degree or accounting experience?

No degree or prior accounting experience is required to begin learning. Accounting Career Starter is designed as a beginner pathway. Some accounting jobs and external credentials have their own education or experience requirements.

How much time do I need each week?

There are no fixed class days or completion deadlines. Try a couple of short sessions during the week and a longer session when you have time. More complex labs may take longer.

Do I have to take all eight programs?

No. Choose one program based on your goals, complete it at your own pace, and explore another when you're ready. The programs cover different career stages and skills.

Will the certificate help me get a job?

A Path Rewritten Certificate of Completion can document your self-reported learning, but it is not accredited or independently assessed. Employers decide what training they value. Your ability to explain and demonstrate what you learned matters more than the certificate alone. No job placement or hiring outcome is guaranteed.

Do I have to create an account to look around?

No. You can browse program outlines before joining. To save progress in the online student portal, you'll need a free account with an email address and passcode. A desktop download option allows local-only progress.

Ready when you are

Your next chapter can start today.

No tuition. No traditional enrollment. Just a place to learn something useful, practice it, and keep moving forward—on your timeline.
