Why Path Rewritten Accounting Academy Exists

Another way to get started

I founded Path Rewritten Accounting Academy because I genuinely want to give people another option. Not everyone can afford college, has the time to attend university, or wants to follow a traditional educational path. That should not mean they have to give up on learning something new or building a different career.

My name is Shauna Blackman. I built my own accounting career outside the traditional four-year college route. I learned by doing the work, asking questions, seeking opportunities, and continuing to grow with every new experience. Looking back, having one organized place to study and practice these skills would have given me a much bigger head start—not only a foot through the door, but more confidence walking through it.

Path Rewritten brings that kind of opportunity together. It's for people considering a career change, people balancing work or family responsibilities, and people who want to refresh or grow their skills without returning to a full-time classroom. The lessons are structured so that students can find a starting point and keep moving at their own pace.

Most importantly, I want Path Rewritten to teach work you can actually use. The Academy focuses on accounting logic, Excel, journal entries, reconciliations, month-end close, and other skills that show up on real teams—not just definitions in a textbook. The goal is to understand the why, practice the how, and develop the confidence to apply what you've learned.

I created Path Rewritten because I want people to have access, direction, and a genuine opportunity to grow. If someone discovers a path forward because this resource existed, then Path Rewritten is doing exactly what I hoped it would do.
